Erasmus programme: 2010-2011

Students were required to evaluate the study area from the social and environmental perspectives, in order to generate enough information for the elaboration of a multi-sectoral policy plan that helped to increase the area's resilience and the implication of local stakeholders. This assigment was made to an international group of students, which had the opportunity to talk directly to local residents, authorities and experts.

  • Impacts of climate change and adaptation measures in the area of Baixo Vouga Lagunar (Portugal)
  • Definition of scenarios for the adaptation to climate change.

Study area

Baixo Vouga Lagunar is located in the stuary of the river Vouga, in the North region of Portugal, comprising a complex ecosystem that occupies about 4,600 ha and has been designated as a protected natural area by the Portuguese government (part of Natura 2000 network). It is part of different municipalities.
